Today I will share my “life story” in about 12 minutes before the Senior Leadership Team of Young Life. I have been attending this meeting for 12 years. I have had the rich joy of hearing just over 70 life stories in that span.
As I prepare to speak today I am reminded how sweet life stories are; and, how powerful.
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their story (testimony); they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11
“The woman knew what had happened to her. She came shaking with fear and knelt down in front of Jesus. Then she told him the whole story.” Mark 5:33
As I prepared for this I am reminded that they key to sharing your story – 47 years in 12 minutes, is to be strategically selective. “Lord, what are the KEY MOMENTS, as I look back on the footprints of my life?”
It is so encouraging to hear people’s story, or to share your story. I wonder if you might consider pretending you are telling your story to someone and prepare it. You have 12 minutes to condense the key moments in your life into what we will call, your “Life Story.”
Best I can tell by reading the scriptures above – (1) you overcome the evil one when you share your story, and (2) your story stops Jesus in his tracks and he will listen to YOU.
Enjoy your day – write your story – share it!

PS One other note. I had coffee with my 25 year old nephew today, Denman. We had such a rich time sharing our “story” since the last time we were together. Thanks Denny for the time — sure am proud of YOU.
First time I ever shared my story was on a drive to the coast with Sco. I was terrified. Now, it’s a huge part of my testimony and I share that moment all the time with men and groups. It’s the moment that everything was brought into the light, and I was accepted. Fear was gone.
