Scripture Reading:  “Surrounded then as we are by these serried ranks of witnesses, let us strip off everything that hinders us, as well as the sin which dogs our feet, and let us run the race that we have to run with patience.”   Hebrews 12:1

Think about all the great “hall of fame” leaders that have be in and around your life.  It does not matter if they are still on this earth or not – they are gathered around you this morning!

They have inspired you to follow Christ.  So, whatever causes you any angst or hinders you in anyway – strip it off.  Go into today prayed up and clean.  (Psalm 103 – he removes our transgressions from us.)  Today, run the race God has for you WITH PATIENCE.

One example I can think of happened this morning.  I just wanted my morning coffee, eyes still blurred from the night.  Yet, Charlie needed my help, and a “lego creation” appeared to be calling my name.  At that moment the “race before me” was assisting with this creation.  Patiently!
Hours from now it will be different – and only time will tell what that race will be.

• Reflection 1:  Who would be one person who has been an inspiration to your faith?

• Reflection 2:  What does it mean to you today to get rid of anything that hinders you?

• Refection 3:  What “race” do you sense God is calling you into today?

Prayer:  Lord I give you today, this race, and all that happens within it.
