Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 2:8
Scripture Reading: “Because we loved you, it was a joy to us to give you not only the gospel of God but our very hearts – so dear did you become to us.”
Thought: Many years ago when I became a Young Life leader, it was this verse that my trainer said was the “hallmark” for incarnational ministry. Today, think about this verse. It is AS important for us to speak the Gospel as it is to LIVE IT. We share our lives with the very people we are attempting to share Christ with. If you were the one that was to speak on a particular week in a Young Life Club, then it was of the utmost importance to be “out and about” and living around the kids that week.
Your message comes to life when you are living in the midst of people and are living it out. Here is a picture of Charlie at Vacation Bible School during the presentation at the end of the week. I don’t know about you, but I see the Gospel in his face. I see joy! What do people see in your face? In my face?
Give your life way; give the Gospel away!
Reflection 1: If you had to share the gospel in a short elevator ride . . . say 1 minute . . . how would you do it, and what would you say?
Reflection 2: What does it mean to give “your very heart?” Who today are you sensing this is referring to? (One or two people that come to mind.)
