The Punch List

Scripture:  Titus 1:7-8

Scripture Reading:  “Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.”

Thought:  After you have a house built, and they are ready for the final walk through, the new owner and builder go through the house and make a “punch list.”  A list of simply what needs to get done.  I love Titus for this very reason – he gives us a “punch list.”  You are a leader, we all are a leader at some point each day, over something.  Hear the words . . . blameless, not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not drunk, not dishonest, hospitable, love what is good, controlled, holy, and disciplined.  What a challenge to think about all these areas of our lives.  God has tough qualifications, doesn’t He?  Yes, and He has given us the task and great responsibility to live this out – each of us – in the world in which we have been given leadership.

Reflection 1:  What word on this “punch list” most stands out to you today as something that you would like to focus on?  Why?

Reflection 2:  In what areas specifically do you sense God has called you to be a leader?  In the “punch list” of a leader, which one do you feel you have done the best with lately?  Why?

Have a great Sunday!

Blessings,  Eric
