Think of the ways we finish. We finish family vacations, we finish a sporting season with our kids, we finish a 4 day visit from a friend we host at our home, we finish a phone conversation, we finish a working relationship, we finish a relationship, or we even finish being hosted or being a guest.
Today I was with Ben in the final round of the John Deere Classic. It was an amazing finish. He birdied 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. It was quite a fun round to follow and be a part of for sure. It did make a point to me, as yesterday’s round was long forgotten. It’s all how we finish.
We went back to our rental house and finished the food we bought – instead of going out to eat. I went up to the room I stayed in and stripped the beds – even though we didn’t have to. Ben went down a line of hundreds of fans and signed hats, balls, flags, and gloves. He finished well. We finished well. Now, I am at the airport awaiting the flight home.
How about you? How are you finishing? Are there places you didn’t finish well that maybe you need to go back and “make it right?” Are there some upcoming things coming up that you can plan for, and by doing that planning, finish well?
Hebrews 12:1 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Finish well . . . finish well.
Blessings,
Eric
